Earlsmead Crescent Green Maintenance

Thanet District Council (TDC) attended a meeting with the Parish Council on 7th Sept 2017 to discuss the grassed area and trees at the above location.

They managed to establish that the development company who owned the land and estate went in to receivership half way through the building of the estate in the late 1970’s. The Insurance company appointed another builder (Kingfishers) who completed building the estate in 1979. As the land was now not owned it was passed to the borough council at the time for maintenance (Thanet District Council).

TDC are therefore satisfied that no responsibility falls to the parish council as they were not formed until 2003 and according to their records TDC have maintained the land through the 80’s, 90’s and into the 2000’s.

TDC will add this on to their grass cutting list and carry out a cut asap. They will ensure that they collect the grass as the whole estates drainage system is run by a pump system and if the grass cuttings get into the pump system it causes many problems.

In regard to the trees, they clearly need some remedial maintenance works so TDC will arrange for this to be carried out.
